A sub-dial at 6 o’clock indicates the expected times for the next high and low tides. The dual display of the moon phases at 12 o’clock has been revised and enhanced to show the spring and lunar tides, thus providing information on the strength of the current tides.
Spring tides, which bring particularly high water, occur with full moon and new moon.
The dual moon phase and tide indication module of this watch is powered by the in-house caliber 82835. This automatic movement is equipped with the Pellaton device with ceramic components.
Developed in the 1940s by Albert Pellaton, it is still a very valid energy transmission mechanism today.
Thanks to a special system consisting of a heart-shaped cam inserted in the oscillating mass, the movements of the latter – in both directions (bidirectional rotor) – make a tilting bridge move which has harpoons that serve to make it more constant and it specifies the speed of the two wheels that make up the transmission system of the automatism to the wheel to which the barrel is connected.
In practice it is a system that limits the power reserve – the caliber of this Portugieser Yacht Club Time & Tide offers 60 hours but technically it could be much more – for the benefit of a more constant delivery to the time regulation system thus offering a greater isochronism. IWC calibers with Pellaton system are among the most valid automatic in circulation fake watches.
Rather massive, this watch has a 44.6mm x 14.6mm 5N rose gold case and is accompanied by a blue rubber strap with a textile insert.
