Thanks to Cartier and the Luigi Verga watchmaker in Milan, I was able to try out the new Caliber de Cartier Diver for the TGCOM. The watch I tried inaugurates a new chapter in the history of the Caliber de Cartier: the diving watch. In 2010, in fact,replica Cartier presented the Caliber, a manufacture watch (1904 MC movement at 28,880 vibrations / hour, for those interested) with recognizable elements such as Roman numerals and the bezel placed on the flange. Today the Diver maintains the distinctive aesthetic characteristics of the progenitor, while at the same time satisfying the technical constraints and tests of the ISO 6425 standard which imposes 8 reliability requirements on watches that want to be certified as “divers”.
On the wrist, the watch is obviously noticeable, both for the peculiarity of the dial (aggressive thanks to the oversized number XII, but at the same time elegant in my opinion for the choice of colors) and for the size of the case: 42mm in diameter even if it may seem more, but only 11mm thick which for the type of watch is very little, also thinking that it is certified to withstand up to 300 meters in depth.I appreciated the bezel (steel coated with ADLC), externally fluted to recall the internal indentation to the bezel (attention to detail typical of Cartier I would say); and all in all the choice of offering it with a rubber strap, very soft and in my opinion particularly suitable for the summer season. Among other things, I wondered if the Maison also has a steel bracelet in the pipeline. Perhaps the pin buckle, especially reminding me that it is a diving watch, could be improved.
As always when I do tests, despite having the utmost respect both because as a watch enthusiast I know that they are not indestructible objects, and because (if not above all!) Not mine, I have worn it in almost all situations of my daily working life and not. I must say that, despite being an important watch also from the point of view of weight, it does not tire wearing it on the wrist for several hours. I also believe in part thanks to the aforementioned rubber strap, in addition to the design of the lugs that fit the wrist perfectly. To the point that I remembered to remove it just in time on Saturday when I started cutting the grass in the garden!
The power reserve is perfectly average for this type of watches: they declare 48 hours and actually respected them.
However, it is in the evening and in low light conditions (underwater for example, even if I have not lived this experience) that the watch, also thanks to the indicators and the XII treated in Super-LumiNova, takes on a notable charm .
I wrote above about the recognizability of the watch: I must say that wearing it on the wrist I could see that even the female audience was curious and appreciated it: further confirmation, if needed, that Cartier knows how to be “bipartisan”. I tried the steel-only version (cost to the public 6,800 euros), but for those interested in more precious metals, there is also a version in rose gold and steel and a splendid one in rose gold rolex replica!
