In watchmaking, the past is often exchanged for the present.
Today, the vast majority of brands incorporate styles and lines from the past, but for traditional manufacturers such as Audemars Piguet just look at home.
New for 2020, as can also be guessed a little from the name Audemars Piguet [Re] master01 is not a remake but a faithful re-execution that brings us back to one of the rarest chronographs of the Maison from 1943.
Fake Audemars Piguet vintage chronographs are very rare watches: between the 1930s and 1950s the manufacture claims to have built only 307 and the [Re] master01 is so identical to those iconic pieces that it seems that in Le Brassus they hired Doc and Marty and shipped in the past to take them back.
Aesthetics
The design is identical to that of the reference 1533 from 1943.
The 40 mm steel case is round with lugs whose teardrop profile is not found in the recent Code 11.59 but not in all the high quality replica watches uk in the catalog of the last 10 years. Bezel and beveled pushers are in 18 k gold to recall the dial in turn taken up with another shade from the leather strap.
The dial design, which is also faithful to the reference model, shows the tachymeter scale in the most distal part and that of the minutes immediately inside.
The [Re] master01 has slightly recessed counters while maintaining the indication of 4/5 of the original clock above the 15-minute index inside the 30-minute counter positioned at 9 o’clock to allow reading up to 45 minutes.
This function was requested by Jacques-Louis Audemars (1910 – 2003), a member of one of the two third generation founding families, to indulge his passion for football and indicate the first half of a match.
Movement
In this journey from the past to the present Audemars Piguet [Re] master01 has procured a self-winding movement with the chronograph function governed by a column wheel mechanism with vertical engagement. The 4409 caliber offers the flyback or retour en vol function which, by pressing a single button, allows the central seconds hand to be reset and restarted instantly.
As you would expect from an Audemars Piguet, the movement is carefully finished: Perlage is present on the front and back as well as the bevels on the angular elements. The 22-karat rose gold oscillating weight is satin-finished and decorated with Clous de Paris.
