Panerai’s approach to the world of chronography takes us back in time. It is from 1943, the year that he identified the Mare Nostrum project, a prototype made for the deck officers of the Italian Navy.
Panerai Luminor Chrono Monopulsante GMT Midnight Blue
In 2021, the Maison takes this rare complication back into its timepieces and offers it on its iconic Luminor. The result is the reference PAM01135 which identifies the new Panerai Luminor Chrono Monopulsante GMT Blu Notte built in a limited edition of 200 units.
That it is an uncommon Luminor is also emphasized by the 44 mm matt black ceramic case. The zirconium powder that composes it has been compressed and processed to present a sandblasted structure that Panerai says is particularly resistant to scratches.
The only button to control the start, stop and reset chronograph functions was positioned on the left middle case at 8 o’clock since on the other side there is the bulky but characteristic protection system of the bezel winding crown.
Clock face
A detail that increases the charm of this Luminor Chrono Monopulsante is the midnight blue dial decorated with a soleil on a satin background. Naturally unchanged the sandwich structure identifying the divers of the brand that sees the lower disc near the openings of the indexes and numbers of the upper one filled with SuperLuminova, white in daylight that becomes intense green in the dark.
Two straps are provided: the first is in blue leather with white stitching, the other in blue rubber. The watch is water resistant to 100 meters.
Movement
This Luminor also marks the presence of replica panerai‘s first chronograph movement, the P.2004 caliber. It is a chronograph with sorting by means of a column wheel and precisely governed by a single button. It is also equipped with a GMT function which with an additional hand allows you to read the time of two different time zones on the dial.
In addition to a small seconds counter, it features a 24-hour counter with a day and night indicator. The movement is manually wound and its long autonomy of 8 days is always in view thanks to the linear power reserve display typical of Panerai.
The caliber is visible from the titanium caseback with DLC treatment which with 12 screws ensures a sapphire crystal.
